The German freelance Choreographer and dance Artist Tillmann Becker was born in Indonesia. He started his career as a dancer at the Coburg City Ballet in Germany, which he also supervised as a physiotherapist. Later on he went to the Netherlands to enrich his dance and choreographic vocabulary and completed his dance training at the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem.
Engagements as a dancer took him to Staatstheater Braunschweig, Theater Bielefeld, Ballet of the Landestheater Flensburg, Unterwegstheater Heidelberg, Thalia Theater Hamburg and to Staatstheater Kassel. In addition to independent projects as an artist in Europe, he has performed in works among others by Marco Goecke, Angelin Preljocaj, Roy Assaf, Amos Ben-Tal, Noa Shadur, Jeori Dubbe, Gregor Zoellig, Simone Sandroni, Henrietta Horn, Hans-Henning Paar, Helena Waldmann, Ashley Lobo, Jan Pusch and Katrín Hall.
In 2012 he won the 2nd prize at the International Choreography Competition "No Ballet" in Ludwigshafen.
He was nominated for the "ITs Krisztina de Châtel Award" in Amsterdam/ The Netherlands with his duet "The one we act, the other we are”, choreographed onto Milan Kampfer and himself. Twice he became a semi-finalist at the "International Choreographic Competition Hannover" in Germany.
For his work “Babylon” he received a scholarship through the Arbeitsgemeinschaft TANZAllianz, Cooperation of UnterwegsTheater Heildelberg und Theater- und Orchester Heidelberg. His latest works „baby on fire“ and „untold paradox“ were performed life and online at LOT-Theater e.V. Braunschweig.
As a guest lecturer he performed at various city and state theaters in Germany and teaches for the ZAV artists agency.
In 2016 he took a guest professorship at Shenzhen Arts School (China) in cooperation between Shenzhen Arts School and TanzArt OstWest und
Tanzcompagnie Gießen under the direction of Tarek Assam.
In commission for "3sat", a German television channel with a cultural focus, Tillmann choreographed and performed TV Idents in 2021. Since 2022 he is touring with the Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov and danced the opening of the Festival d' Avignon in cooperation with the Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Gogol Center Moscow. Recently he was assisting the choreographer Sita Ostheimer for her productions at Staatstheater Kassel, Volkstheater Rostock and Theater Pforzheim.
During the season 2022/2023 Tillmann was engaged as rehearsal Director
for the dance company of Staatstheater Kassel / TANZ_KASSEL
under the artistic direction of Thorsten Teubl.
His therapeutic knowledge and cultural heritage are inherent components of inspiration in his work.
