untold paradox
(english version below)

Was wäre, wenn Du Deine Identität verlieren würdest? Was wäre, wenn Du anonym bleiben könntest?

    untold paradox

The duet “untold paradox” is inspired by “Banksy’s” art works and is questioning the gap between hope and captivity from my personal point of view.

I was born in the eastern world and grew up in the western world. Since my youth I feel attracted to urban culture and graffiti art. It intrigued me to find out what might be written on those fascinating pictures on concrete, walls, in the streets and on trains. Was there a message encoded? Why does the writer prefer to stay anonymous?

On my travels I loved to photograph each kind of graffiti. Today I would like to choreograph my own graffito: “untold paradox”. I got inspired by the graffiti artist “Banksy” for example during my visit in Bethlehem and the “Westbank”. His pictures had a strong impact on me. Standing in front of a concrete wall with one of his art works in an area of tension triggered a paradoxical feeling in me that gave rise to the image of a gap between hope and captivity.

What if “freedom” transforms to a synonym for simply “keeping alive”?
Can you buy freedom, can you buy life? What does it mean to be “in-between” two borders?
What if you could choose to be anonymous and what if you would lose your identity?
What if the world would not be armed? Who or what will unarm the world ?
How would your children see flowers growing ? And how will you keep on going?

Graffities are two-dimensional and through “Untold Paradox” I brought the one which moved me the most, to life.
The duet shows a soldier remaining just as anonymous through his gas mask as Banksy would like to be. The girl wants to take his gas mask off, but doesn't manage to do so. In the end the soldier remains anonymous.
